Many of us know the Christmas Story... About how Jesus came into this world for our sins. This document is written to explain why Christ came into this world being born of a virgin, and died on the cross of Calvary.

The Garden of Eden

We don't know for sure what fruit it was that Adam and Eve ate in the Garden of Eden. One thing we do know is that they were told not to eat of the fruit of one particular tree. They ate of it anyway. At that point, death set in, and man had a sinful nature.. Their blood was effectively "Poisoned", and that blood poisoning continued throughout Adam's bloodline to all their children, and all of their descendants even to this day.

That sinful nature caused a separation between us and God, and we were all doomed for both physical death, and everlasing spiritual destruction.

The Virgin Birth

Knowing this, it makes sense that Christ had to be born of a virgin. Because the bloodline is passed down from the father, in order for Christ to be unblemished, he could not have an earthly father.

The Shed Blood

In the Old Testament, they would offer sacrifices on the alter, but Christ was the Perfect (once and for all) sacrifice. Remember when Christ said, "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Christ took on all the sins of those who accept him, and for a brief period of time, a separation took place as God turned his head. Christ Then descended into an area of hell to bury our sins, and gather the saints of old, then arose again on the third day.

What does this mean for me?

Man was made in the image of God, but became corrupt, and now is separated from God. Just like the hard drive can become corrupt on your computer. When that happens, you can either destroy it, or patch it. God has a patch available. All you have to do is to accept that patch, and you won't have to face eternal destruction.

How do I apply the patch?

God will apply the patch. You just have to accept it.

1) Realize you are a sinner. "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God" Romans 3:23

2) Realize the penalty of this sin, and the gift that God is offering. "For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23

3) Know that the penalty for this sin can be paid in full. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" Romans 5:8

4) Repent of your sins, and accept Christ. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9
